Real wedding: Electric vibes at Evie’s Disco Diner
When a couple tells you their wedding vibe is "white girl mid-30s millennial who loves dancing" mixed with a "David Guetta/Avicii/Calvin Harris" energy, you know it’s going to be a good night. Kate and Ryan’s cocktail wedding at the iconic Evie's Disco Diner in Fitzroy was exactly that - a non-stop, high-energy celebration that perfectly balanced nostalgia with modern party anthems.
With DJ Xavier on the decks and commanding the room as MC, the night was less about tradition and more about ensuring the dance floor was packed from start to finish.

The brief: A millennial dance party
Kate and Ryan wanted a party that catered to everyone but stayed true to their love for a big beat. The brief was clear: mix well-known singalongs with a clubbier edge. They wanted to bridge the gap between their friends (mid-30s) and their family (60s-70s), ensuring the "oldies" had their moment before the night evolved into a full-blown rave.
The soundtrack
The energy kicked off immediately with one of the most memorable entrances we’ve seen. The couple stormed into the room to Shut Up and Dance by Walk the Moon, but with a twist - transitioning seamlessly into the "Shots Shots Shots" drop from LMFAO, accompanied by the couple doing an actual shot on arrival!

Fun “formalities”
As MC, Xavier facilitated a unique game called "Shot or Speech?". Instead of a long run of formal speeches, the couple’s friends Britt and Sarah selected guests at random to either deliver a quick toast or take a shot . It was a brilliant way to keep the energy high and the formalities fun.
