So, you’ve booked your DJ - congratulations! Now for the really fun part: thinking about the music that will shape the atmosphere of your amazing event.
For some, this is the most exciting part of the planning process. For others, it can feel a little daunting. Where do you even begin?

We’ve developed a suite of resources designed to make music planning easy, inspiring, and enjoyable. This guide will walk you through the tools that will help you complete your Party Brief and give us everything we need to nail your event's soundtrack.
Inspiration at your fingertips: our Spotify playlists
The easiest way to start is by simply listening. We’ve put together a collection of Spotify playlists to help you explore different genres and vibes. Think of our Spotify profile as your music inspiration hub.
These playlists are designed to help you think about the unique rhythm of your event day, from background tunes for mingling and meals to the dance floor selections that will get every generation groovin' on that dance floor.
Why are these playlists so helpful?
For you: They provide a great starting point if you’re not sure what you want. By listening, you can easily identify styles and songs you love (and just as importantly, what you don't!). It helps you consider the flow of the entire event, not just the peak-hour dance set.
For your DJ: These playlists create a common language. When you tell us in your Party Brief, "We loved the 'Cocktail Hour' playlist," your DJ gets an instant, crystal-clear picture of your taste. It allows us to brief our DJs ourselves with incredible accuracy. We regularly update these resources and share them with our DJs, so they're fully equipped with the tunes they need for your event.
A quick guide to your event's key moments
Thinking about your event's music can be easier when you break the day down into its key moments. While every event is unique, most follow a similar rhythm. Thinking about this flow will help you fill out your Party Brief and give your DJ a crystal-clear vision for your event. Don’t worry - you will be guided to do this in your Brief.
The welcome: This is the music your guests will hear as they arrive. It sets the tone for everything to come, whether it's chilled for wedding pre-ceremony drinks, or sophisticated and professional for a corporate function.
The atmosphere: This is the soundtrack for your mingling, cocktails and meals. The goal here is to create a great vibe without overpowering conversation. Our playlists with "cocktail lounge grooves" or other background tunes can provide the perfect inspiration.
The dance floor: This is the main event! It's when your DJ combines your must-play requests with their expertise in reading the room to get guests from every generation on the dance floor. From the first dance to the final bangers, this is where the energy hits its peak.

Once your Party Brief is filled with your requests, how does your DJ use that information on the day?
Our DJs combine your music brief with their own expertise to choose songs for your event. A great DJ knows how to read the room at any given moment - their job is to maintain the flow, mix genres, and transition cleanly between songs to keep the energy just right.
They have super organised music libraries so the right tune is always at their fingertips. And what about guest requests on the night? They’re happy to take those too! We have a handy blog about how our DJs handle guest requests.
